Authentic text. New specification exam-style questions.

This document was created for my Year 10 and Year 11 students to practise further their vocabulary on the topic of school. It gave them more confidence in their writing skills. It can be followed up with some English to Spanish translations and a free writing activity in class.

Looking for different ways to help students, I saw on Twitter the idea of a ladder reflecting elements needed for grades. It starts with an easy present tense sentence and finishes with a sentence which includes an indirect object pronoun. This resource can be used at the start of a lesson, to test how much students know on a particular subject or can be given as homework for students to work independently. KS4 (Year 9 - Year 11 low ability) lesson to practise vocabulary on free time activities. To make it a bit more current, I included pictures of Greta Thunberg doing different activities in her free time and this is how the vocabulary is introduced. All answers included.

This worksheet includes: 10 short paragraphs about why learning another language is important 5 follow-up exercises with instructions in Spanish to test students’ reading skills and one exercise to allow students to write their own opinion about why learning a language is important, using the vocabulary seen.

Two sample bullet points (not full tasks) for each GCSE theme and sample answers to analyse all the good vocabulary and structures to include. I’ve created a worksheet for students and a ppt (with answers) to deliver the lesson in class.
